Washington Post: U.S. Intelligence Warned of Potential “Israeli” Strike on Iran

U.S. intelligence reports prepared in the final months of Joe Biden’s presidency and early in Donald Trump’s term warned of a possible “Israeli” attack on Iran, The Washington Post reported Wednesday. The report, which could not be independently verified, suggested “Israel” is planning strikes on Iran’s Fordow and Natanz nuclear facilities within the first half of 2025.

According to the outlet, the intelligence directorate of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Defense Intelligence Agency indicated that “Israel” may seek U.S. support, including aerial refueling and intelligence assistance. “Israeli” strikes on Iranian targets in recent months, including the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and attacks inside Iranian territory, have heightened tensions. A new strike could escalate the situation into all-out war.

Iranian officials have rejected claims of a military nuclear program and warned of retaliation for any attack. Iran’s Ambassador to the UN, Saeid Iravani, has lodged a formal protest over Trump’s recent statements about military action. Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei reaffirmed that Tehran would respond to any threat, stating, “If they violate our nation’s security, we will violate theirs without a doubt.”
