Israel and Hamas reach ceasefire agreement

Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire deal, ending 15 months of conflict in Gaza. The deal includes the release of dozens of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The agreement also allows for a temporary halt in fighting, enabling humanitarian aid to enter Gaza and displaced Palestinians to return home. This ceasefire is a significant step towards peace, but its long-term success remains uncertain.

Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire deal, mediated by Qatar, to halt fighting in the Gaza Strip and exchange Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners. The ceasefire, set to commence on Sunday, will last for 42 days, with Hamas releasing 33 hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The deal calls for Israeli forces to withdraw from several areas in Gaza, enabling hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to return home.

The ceasefire deal has been mediated by Qatar and the United States, with US President Joe Biden publicly supporting the agreement. Palestinians celebrate the announcement of a ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip. The ceasefire will allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are struggling to survive.

Despite the breakthrough, Israeli airstrikes continued to bombard Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 72 Palestinians. People stand by coffins lining a street and covered with Israeli flags that are meant to symbolize the price Israel will pay for agreeing to a ceasefire with Hamas in a demonstration against the deal staged by a group representing families of Israelis killed during the war in Gaza.
