Thibaut Courtois—8.5: Sensational. Did all he could to keep Madrid in the tie including a jaw-dropping triple save in the second half.
Fede Valverde—5: Martinelli and Lewis-Skelly kept Fede pinned deep and unable to influence the game in the middle and final third.
Raul Asencio—6: Can keep his head held up high — always played with a competitive edge and the right attitude. Had several important clearances.
Toni Rudiger—5: Limited influence, failed to keep the Arsenal attack at bay.
David Alaba—3: Struggled with the constant 1v1 battles against Bukayo Saka. Needlessly fouled the winger outside the box which led to the first direct free kick goal scored by Declan Rice.
Eduardo Camavinga—6.5: Five tackles, four clearances, and three interceptions, Camavinga did his part defensively in the middle. The red card at the end of match was pure frustration.
Luka Modric—5: Overrun by the Arsenal midfield and failed to get Madrid playing, with a massive drop off in the second half.
Jude Bellingham—6: Anything positive that Madrid created in the final third came from Jude Bellingham’s feet: the pass to Mbappe for the 1:1 in the first half and another one-touch pass in the second half to again free the Frenchman.
Rodrygo—2: Complete non-factor. 0 shots, 0 dribbles, 0 key passes, lost possession 5 times and only 53 touches.
Vinicius Junior—2: Kiyan Sobhani dubbed Vini’s second half performance as one of his worst in a Real Madrid shirt, and rightly so. Failed to show any of the hunger and relentless attitude that epitomized his previous season’s at the club.
Kylian Mbappe—2: Missed a massive opportunity to put Madrid up 1-0 in the first half. Lack of clinical finishing on high xG opportunities has sadly been a theme for the Frenchman all season.
Substitutions:
Lucas Vazquez—4: Played right back and pushed Fede to midfield. Carlo had limited options but Lucas failed to bring any material impact.
Fran Garcia—N/A: Replaced David Alaba for the final 11 minutes.
Brahim Diaz—N/A: Replaced Rodrygo for the final 10 minutes.
