Donald Trump has immediately come into action after his swearing-in ceremony as the 47th President of the United States. After coming to the White House, he straight away went to the Oval Office and signed his first executive order that included withdrawing America from the Paris Climate Treaty, exactly what he did during his first term, an immediate freeze on government hirings and revoking 78-Biden era actions.
Notably, the Trump administration’s withdrawal from the 2015 Paris accord in 2017 was reversed by then President Joe Biden on his first day in the office in 2021.
What is Paris Climate Treaty?
Paris Agreement is an international agreement made to fight the climate change. Around 200 countries signed the agreement committing to keep the global warming below 2 degrees Celsius and ideally below 1.5 degrees.
It is to be noted that each country is free to develop its own plan to follow the commitment. However, the Paris Agreement is not a legally binding treaty.
Freedom of Speech
Trump issued a directive to the Federal Government aimed at reinstating Freedom of Speech and prohibiting government censorship of free expression in the future. He also announced a directive intended to halt the use of government resources against political opponents of the former administration. Additionally, he signed further Executive Actions in the Oval Office and addressed questions from the media.
Earlier, during his speech at the Capitol One Arena, President Donald Trump highlighted the success of his “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement, calling it the most successful political operation in the history of the country and the world.
“MAGA was the most successful political operation and movement in the history of our country and the world. We are not finished yet. We have a long way to go,” Trump said.
