SAG Awards 2025 Full Winners List: Timothee Chalamet springs a surprise, Demi Moore continues golden run; Shogun, Only Murders in the Building win big

With The Golden Globes done, and Oscars right around the corner, it was time for the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards that celebrates the best performances in films and television in 2024. With winners selected by the guild members, more often than not, this is considered to be a sign of things to come at the Academy Awards.

An interesting lineup of films and television shows are in the race, which makes it all the more difficult to zero in on a winner considering the variety in genres. The show, which was streamed live on Netflix, was hosted by second-time host Kristen Bell, who was chosen to be the first person to host the SAG awards in 2018. It was the first time SAG had a host in its then 23-year-old history.

Apart from celebrating the winners in the respective categories, the SAG Awards also expressed its love for the city of Los Angeles, which is recovering from the torrid forest fires in January. The lifetime achievement award was presented to Jane Fonda, who received it from Julia Louis Dreyfuss.

While Conclave took home the best ensemble cast prize in films, Shogun and Only Murders in the Building took home the same in television (drama), and television (comedy) categories. It was a rather interesting turn of events as Timothee Chalamet took home the Best Actor (Male) prize for A Complete Unknown, and broke the streak of Adrien Brody and Ralph Fiennes, who have been the favourites this award season for their performance in The Brutalist and Conclave, respectively.

While the SAG awards did unfold on expected lines, it did have a few surprises that change the odds of the Oscar winners, who will be announced on March 3 (IST). It would be interesting to see if the names coming out of the envelopes in the 97th Academy Awards stick to the script, or one too many plot twists become the highlight of the event
